Woody Debris Collection at Hoodland Park
On November 9 & 10, 2024 the Mt. Hood Corridor Wildfire Partnership, in coordination with Clackamas County Parks, hosted a woody debris collection event to help the local community mitigate their risk of wildland fire. Local residents loaded up trailers, and pickups, station wagons, and even a Prius with dead wood from their yard or from creating defensible space. We collected over 100 yards of branches and brush and disposed of it with an air curtain burner, leaving behind only a pile of biochar to be used as a soil enhancement for the community gardens. We will be hosting additional collection events in the Spring to prepare for fire season.
